Can you really lust after a hood fan?
The new Elica & Cheng lines by Zephyr Ventilation bring modern design influences to the fairly staid category of kitchen range hoods.

The Shade model by Fu Tung Cheng, shown above, was recently installed in Zephyr's new San Francsico showroom. I checked out the new showroom, designed as a collaborative effort between Fu Tung Cheng and the architect for Italian hood manuufacturer Elica, during the grand opening a few weeks back. The Shade is one of those products that looks even better in real life than it does in photos. The hood is able to be pushed out of the way when not in use and positioned over the cooktop when needed. It is really stunning in person.
The Elica collection by Zephyr was designed in part by David Lewis, who is widely regarded for his work for Bang & Olufsen. The Concave, shown below, has styling elements remeniscent of current B&O's products with the use of stainless steel and color.
In addition the the contemporary styling, the Elica collection has an innovative wireless remote which sits on your countertop. It is operated by simply pushing down or twisting the remote to activate the hood.
Besides the stunning design, the remote makes it easy for those with disabilities to useas the remote is portable and not located high above the counter, as is the case with most remotes.
Great design, ease of use and good performance makes the new Zephyr collection a must for today's modern kitchen.

The hood will make or break the kitchen. I'm far from an expert, but my hood makes my kitchen.
