Grey water into Green water
The Pontos System by Hansgrohe allows you to relax under a long hot shower, without the guilt of knowingly wasting fresh water.

The Pontos System is a grey water treatment system made for the average single family home. Pontos works by collecting water from the bath, shower, and lavatory basins in the home, and running it through a series of mechanical filters, biological processes, and UV filtration. The process is called the Aquacycle. The waste water, once sterilized by the Aquacycle, can then be stored in a tank for other uses inside and outside of the home.

The sterilized water is used in the flushing of toilets, washing clothes, or just simply watering the plants around the house. The system costs about 600 Euros ($750) for the filtration system, not including the cost of the new plumbing required to transport the grey water. The unit itself is about the size of a full sized suitcase, and can easily be installed. Pontos tends to be more economical in new construction though, as the cost to retrofit an existing home's pipes can far exceed the cost of the system itself.

Pontos has also been scaled for use in larger commercial and hosptality projects such as the uber hip Casa Camper Hotel in Barcelona (pictured above). The amazing statistic is that the Pontos System installed in a single family residence of four, can help save on average 24,000 gallons of water a year. This is a smart product with great potential for the US market. Hopefully this will soon be an option for new homes being built in the US.
